Head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Leyla Abdullayeva answers the media's question
Question: What can you say about the statement of the representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry accusing Azerbaijan of border tensions, claiming that Azerbaijan allegedly occupied the territory of Karabakh in violation of international law?
Answer: First of all, we remind the Armenian Foreign Ministry that the violation of the fundamental principles of international law by Armenia during all these years is the real reason why the border between the two countries has not been defined for the last 30 years.
It is generally positive that Armenia is finally recalling international law after 30 years. However, Armenia still understands the principles of international law in its own way.
Armenia, which accuses Azerbaijan of allegedly occupying its territories by force, still does not understand that a country cannot occupy its own territory, only liberate it from occupation. Armenia should already realize this fact and accept the new situation that has arisen.
We once again call on Armenia to normalize relations on the basis of the principles of international law to which it refers and to show constructiveness in resolving any differences.
